South East Cultural Observatory

SECO Powered by Rendili CosmosWhat were the initial problems and how were they resolved?

Initially the content of the website was going to be sited on one of the organisations’ own content management system but there were concerns about the content management system’s flexibility, ease of use and what it looked like at the front end. We decided that it would be better to look for an alternative cms.

Why did you choose Rendili Cosmos ® as your preferred CMS solution?

We designed a detailed brief for the project and, as a government organisation, we have a very thorough procurement system that demands a very high level of analysis and comparison of potential suppliers. Rendili, through 3 Men and a Suit, convinced us that the system, as well as the design, would suit our purposes very well.

What was the timescale of the project? Was it on time and within budget?

The timescale of the project was very tight – 6 weeks from kick off through design and build to completion. 3 Men and Rendili rose to the occasion and we were able to launch our site on the date we wanted to.

LAA Toolkit Powered by Rendili CosmosWhat special or customised features were developed specifically for this project?

Initially I believe that we used the standard package, but since then our needs changed and Rendili was able to develop specific tools and functions for our needs. For instance, we added a very complex matrix-style navigation function for our LAA Toolkit, as well as design features such as pop out boxes, which are very helpful as the Toolkit is text heavy.

Have you used other CMSs before? How did Rendili Cosmos ® compare?

As a user, rather than a manager, I have used a couple of CMS previously and they were not as intuitive or straightforward to use as Rendili.

What were the main things about using Rendili Cosmos ® that you liked?

Ease of use, very intuitive. Sean has been very helpful and quick in designing add-ons and fixing the odd bug when it happens

What advice or recommendations would you give to others contemplating a major website project?

Make sure you know what you want, who your target audience is, and what you want them to do as a result of you website. As for the CMS, make sure that it’s flexible and you can update all the content yourself. A good design is a must-have.

How easy is it to keep your website fresh and updated?

Content updating is easy. Design-wise is more complex but the cms has many functions that make freshening up pages fairly straightforward.

Anything else you would like to add about the project?

Sean and the team have been a pleasure to work with. Despite some very pressured times, they have maintained a very friendly, positive attitude and always deliver the goods.
